Q: If I qualify for the Low-Income Senior Exemption, will my exemption amount be doubled to $50,000
NO. Your "regular" homestead exemption amount will be $25,000 for ALL of the millage (tax) rates, but the additional $25,000 exemption is on the County Commission and City Commission millage (tax) rates only. It does not effect the School Board Tax rate, therefore it does not double your exemption. The "regular" homestead exemption saves approximately $744 while the Low-Income Senior exemption saves up to an additional $267.
