About Us

The primary mission of the Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office is to locate, identify and appraise all property subject to ad valorem taxes, produce and maintain an equitable tax roll, and administer all property tax exemptions in accordance with Florida Statutes and the Rules and Regulations of the Florida Department of Revenue. The following departments collaborate to accomplish these key functions: Appraisal (Residential, Commercial and Tangible Personal Property), Information Technology (Data, Web Services and Geographical Information Systems), Administration (Tax Roll, Finance and Human Resources), Management Services (Customer Service, Exemptions and Ownership Records) and Community Affairs.

Meet Our Management Team

Akin Akinyemi

Akin was elected Leon County Property Appraiser in November 2016 following the retirement of Bert Hartsfield who served in that capacity since November 1992.  Akin came from the closely related fields of Architecture (practiced for over 25 years and still licensed) and Urban Planning (taught and in final stages of completing his PhD).  While he was a county commissioner (2008-2012) he also served as the chair of the Value Adjustment Board (VAB) helping resolve conflicts between citizens and the property appraiser’s office.  As the new leader of the property appraiser’s office he will be overseeing the state mandated responsibilities of managing and certifying property values and exemptions for over 108,000 parcels totaling close to 26 billion dollars in just value and 15 billion dollars in taxable value annually.

Doug Will
A former state licensed home builder, Doug brings a wealth of knowledge in real estate to the Property Appraiser’s Office.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with a major in real estate, along with twenty-five years of experience in property appraisal and assessment administration.   Doug is responsible for the administration of the office as a whole.  He is charged annually with tax roll compliance with the Department of Revenue, and also serves in the place of the Property Appraiser in his absence.  Areas of primary focus include; providing quality customer service, ensuring all exemptions are properly applied, and providing a fair and equitable assessment roll.  Aside from his duties in the office, Doug is a certified instructor for the IAAO and regularly teaches week-long courses in appraisal and assessment practices.
Chris Lewis
A graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Chris began working for the Property Appraiser's office in March of 2000 and holds certifications from Microsoft, Oracle and the IAAO. He oversees the planning, development, implementation and use of technology throughout the office and this public website. His areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems and telecommunications, including determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions and leading efforts to improve the effective use of technology.
Gina Fletcher
Gina has over 26 years of experience in the Property Appraiser’s office.  She graduated from Florida State University with her Bachelor of Science in Real Estate.  Gina is responsible for the production and submittal of all reports and data necessary for the annual tax roll certification to the Department of Revenue (DOR) and all taxing authorities.  Additionally, she is a liaison for the appraisal and management departments with software developers, to ensure administration, appraisal and tax roll processes are performed according to the requirements of business practices & Florida Statutes.
Amanda Corker
Amanda brings 17 years of County Government Experience to the Property Appraiser’s Office. She graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor’s in Public Administration and holds the Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation. Passionate about Human Resources, Amanda’s main goal is to ensure all employees have the tools and resources they need to be successful in the workplace. Amanda is responsible for the management of all financial matters which include but are not limited to payroll, accounts payables and balancing the checking and money market accounts. Quarterly reports required by the IRS and Unemployment Compensation, end of fiscal year close out and audits are also a vital part of her position.
Meghan Poskey
Meghan is a life-long resident of Tallahassee and a proud graduate of the University of Florida. She holds the Certified Florida Evaluator (CFE) designation awarded by the International Association of Assessing Officers. With over 10 years of experience serving the residents of Leon County and the state of Florida, Meghan oversees two departments within the office responsible for maintaining accurate ownership records and the administration of property tax exemptions.

As Chief Deputy of Appraisal Services, Nik is responsible for the annual valuation of various types of property including residential, commercial, industrial, vacant land, and agricultural properties.  Additionally, he oversees in-depth audits by the Florida Department of Revenue for assessment equity and compliance with Florida Statutes.  During his 16 years with the Property Appraiser’s office, he completed over 400 hours of coursework, earning him two professional designations from the International Association of Assessing Officer’s, the Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES), and the Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS).  Nik is a graduate of Florida State University and a diehard Seminole fan. 

Ken Preston
Ken, a U.S. Army veteran, has worked for the Leon County Property Appraiser for 14 years and contributes a great wealth of knowledge. He began his career as a field appraiser and is currently responsible for implementing and administering property tax exemptions in compliance with Florida Statutes and Department of Revenue guidelines. Additionally, he ensures that taxpayers of Leon County are provided exceptional customer service.
Bill Eichhoefer

Bill joins the Property Appraiser’s Office with 28 years of experience in banking and finance.  Bill obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida State University.  His passion is developing community partnerships between organizations and businesses across both public and private arenas.  The results of his efforts have been recognized as grants to the Tallahassee Senior Center, Thanksgiving dinners served to low income residents in Jackson, Wakulla and Franklin counties, fundraising for Leon County Homeless Veterans and education speaking events. 

Valencia Scott
With more than 13 years of experience with the Leon County Property Appraiser's Office, Valencia is responsible for aiding in conceptualizing, developing and facilitating the implementation of community outreach initiatives including; broadening community awareness of various property tax exemptions; the primary role and responsibility of our office; as well as promote and strengthen the relationship between the Property Appraiser's Office and the residents of the community we proudly serve. As a 16 year resident of the Capital City, with affiliations and membership of various local fraternal and service oriented organizations, she has a true zeal for serving and educating others.
